MyMedicare
Paynesville Medical Centre is a private billing medical clinic
What is MyMedicare?
MyMedicare is a FREE new voluntary patient registration model. It aims to formalise the relationship between patients, their general practice, general practitioner (GP) and primary care teams. Access extended Telehealth appointments and Chronic Disease Management support from the providers you trust.
Benefits
Evidence shows that seeing the same GP and healthcare team regularly leads to better health outcomes. Seeing your GP regularly and formalising the relationship you have with your GP and general practice through MyMedicare may lead to better health outcomes.
It is voluntary and free to register in MyMedicare.
When you register in MyMedicare, it will notify your general practice that you have chosen them as your regular care team.
MyMedicare patients will have access to:
-
Access to longer telehealth consultations
-
Additional services for chronic disease support
-
Funded care planning for patients in aged cared
-
Improved communication between doctors supporting your healthcare
-
Continuity of care through the knowledge that Paynesville Medical Centre will value our relationship and continue to provide you with the best possible care.
If you choose not to register in MyMedicare, you’ll still be able to access the same quality of care from your healthcare providers.
Who can register?
MyMedicare is free and open to Australians with a Medicare card or a DVA Veteran Card.
To register, you must have had:
-
At least two 2 face-to-face appointments with the same medical centre in the last 24 months, or
-
One face-to-face visit if the medical centre is in a remote area
People who are facing hardships including those experiencing domestic and family violence and homelessness can register without meeting these requirements.
Why is it important to register with My Medicare?
MyMedicare helps make your care more connected, consistent and focused on your long-term health.
By registering with MyMedicare, you confirm the link between you and your regular medical centre; you help your care team to support your better health outcomes with:
-
Stronger relationship between you and your GP
-
Access to MyMedicare services like care plans, referrals and longer Medicare-funded telehealth appointments
-
More coordinated and regular health check-ins, follow-ups and reviews from your primary care team to manage your ongoing health conditions

Can I register with more than one Medical Centre?
No. Part of the purpose of MyMedicare is to nominate and identify one preferred provider of general healthcare. If you are already registered with another medical centre, but would like to register with us, completing a new registration form will update your registration status.
Does MyMedicare restrict me to seeing only my registered Medical Centre or GP?
No, registering with MyMedicare does not restrict your access to any other healthcare providers including other GPs and medical centres. However, to enhance the continuity and avoid gaps of your care, services such as care plans that are available to MyMedicare registered patients may only be provided at the medical centre that you are registered with.
Is MyMedicare the same as My Health Record?
No. MyMedicare is a registration system simply shows the name of your regular medical centre and primary care team. MyMedicare cannot hold any of your personal medical information.
My Health Record is an online, electronic medical record that provides patients and their healthcare providers with access to key health information to help with patient care, including in an emergency. My Health Record can include patient health summaries, current medicine lists, immunisation history, and hospital discharge information.
Your chosen medical centre and preferred GP will appear on your My Health Record to ensure other health professionals you see – for example, at a public hospital – will know who to talk to about your regular care.
